Chloe’s Emergency Birth; Cord Prolapse
Chloe’s birth story went the opposite of what she ever could have imagined when she experienced a cord prolapse. She had an emergency caesarean under general anaesthetic and despite the severity of the situation, Chloe remained calm throughout and we think she was absolutely incredible. Her baby boy made his way safely into the world.
Hi Beth – I’ve been meaning to message you to say thank you for everything you do. I wanted to share my story briefly… it really could have been a different story for my son if your course hadn’t helped us remain calm…
Waters Breaking
My waters broke in bed on a Wednesday evening at 1130pm. I called triage who invited me in as it was quiet. I had a quick check over before being sent home to ride out contractions there.
Cord Prolapse
Whilst packing a few bits for a quick trip to hospital (snacks), my cord prolapsed and started making an early exit. I didn’t know this at the time, but knew something wasn’t right so we drove quickly to the hospital.
When we arrived, they took one look, hit the alarms and told me I had a cord prolapse. I was going to have my baby right now as an emergency c section under general anasthetic. At 12.50am, our beautiful baby boy was born.
Cat 1 Emergency caesarean
This was far more dramatic than expected.
I truly think that this course helped me stay calm.
From realising something wasn’t right. To finding out I was having a caesarean. And even waiting in theatre to be put under.
The surgeon visited me later that day and said of the thousands of people she has helped, we were the calmest she had ever come across.
She also said we were super lucky our little boy was healthy and well, which could only be helped by our calmness throughout.
So thank you Beth! What could have been an overwhelming and stressful experience turned out to be a calm and positive one with an incredible outcome. We are so in love.
