Emma’s First Baby Birth Story

This is the first baby birth story of Emma. She had her induction booked in for post dates but went into labour the night before. She had a quick birth, especially for a first baby.

Going over due…

My due date came and went so I was asked by my midwife if I would like to be induced at 10days or 12 days. I opted for 12 days as I really wanted my body to go through the natural motion. With 3 sweeps along the way my cervix was 1cm and thin but still far back. With many walks and living on my birth ball, day 11 slowly arrived (Mother’s Day 2022).

I went out for a roast with the family knowing I was being induced the next day. However, at 6pm one finishing my roast, I felt pains. I didn’t tell my family as I had pains all week and I felt like ‘the boy who cried wolf’ 😂.
When I arrived home with my partner, I walked down the pathway and had to stop during the pain! This was new…

I went on the ball and the pains got more intense. The TENS machine was then applied and I timed my contractions. In 20 minutes they were every 5 minutes for a minute and a half (WHAT!). I was advised to stay home and have a bath. 15 minutes in the bath, my partner said they’re now every 3 minutes lasting for over a minute.

Going in to hospital…

We went to the hospital knowing it had only been an hour and a half since my first pain so we may be sent home. I knew this was a possiblity as this was my first baby. My TENS machine was my best friend for the journey!! When we arrived and I was checked, I was 4cm!!! Yes! I wasn’t going to be sent home. Gas and air was offered but it wasn’t for me. It made me feel sick. 🤢
I was then transferred to the birthing suite where my pool awaited 😍. There was an instant relief when I got in.

I used your breathing techniques to help me through each contraction. I went from 4-10cm within an hour and a half and it was time to push! Your course helped me understand each stage of the birthing process, which made me feel empowered and in control.

Baby’s birth

45 minutes of pushing and breathing and my baby boy popped out! 3 hours of active labour 💙 as my first birth too!
I appreciate all the knowledge you passed over, as I know I wouldn’t have made it look so easy without hearing you in my head.
‘My body is made for this’

It was a magical experience, everything I ever wanted and hoped for!

I can’t even begin to say how much your birth course helped me birth my baby boy!

Thank you, thank you, thank you ❤️ now onto your next baby course. 🙃
