Looking for a list of new baby must-haves?

written by |

Babies need stuff – that much we know – but with so many lists out there it can get really overwhelming. What do I really need before welcoming my baby into the world? We all know about the vests, the nappies, the sleeping equipment, but what about the “nice to have” extras? What truly are the new baby must-haves I need?

We have written this handy guide of some of parent-to-be new baby must-haves showcasing our favourite things that make life that little bit easier when getting to know your new baby.

Tiba and Marl Baby Changing Bag

We are just OBSESSED with these and have been for some time. High fashion and high functionality, the perfect combination for both practicality and style. It has plenty of pockets and space so you can channel your inner Mary Poppins, it also features double installation making it perfect for the parent of multiples as well!

Najell Pregnancy Pillow

Now if you are reading this and have already had your baby, or are in the final weeks of pregnancy, you may question this one – but do read on! Not only is this pregnancy pillow comfortable and flexible to support with sleep during the final months of pregnancy, it also has integrated nursing pillows making is unbelievably helpful in the first few months with your baby to support with breastfeeding. It is also beautiful to look at, making it a gorgeous addition to cosy-up your bed.

Elvie Breast Pump

Honestly a truly life-changing breast pump for parents. We remember first seeing this before it was on the market and in its testing phases, The Elvie Pump really is a device that has really thought out the needs of its users! One of our favourite features too is how quiet it is, no more of that annoying pumping sound (if you know, you know!).  If the pump itself is out of budget, take a look at their Catch and Curve which are both equally as clever for helping to stash that ever precious breastmilk.

With added crying-detection, movement detection, white noise function, and temperature, humidity and air quality monitoring, this really will make those sleepless nights a little less sleepless. Active Wear

Active Wear gives the perfect level of comfort throughout pregnancy and into Motherhood! Our tried and tested favourites are Sara Da Silva.

Baby Carrier

All of us here at The Bump to Baby Chapter loved carrying our babies, it is convenient and a brilliant way to keep baby happy and close to mum or dad.

The Najell Official Easy Baby Carrier is a brilliant carrier that is lightweight, comfortable and ergonomic. The perfect way to stay close to your little one whilst out and about, suitable from birth to 18 months. We have been lucky enough to test one out here at The Bump to Baby Chapter, we will let you know our thoughts very soon! We LOVE this one in a stylish mint green.

Another firm favourite is household name BabyBjörn. We love their 3D mesh Move carriers, ergonomically made to provide comfortable support for the wearers back, legs and hips using a stylish minimal Scandinavian design. Perfect for an active family who want to be on the move with their baby and suitable from birth to 15 months.

Black and White Sensory Play Toys

Such as these high contrast art cards. Black and white high contrast imagery is easier for young baby’s to interpret , therefore supporting both visual and cognitive development. They are great to be placed on the floor and support baby’s tummy time, giving them something interesting to focus on.

Special Baby Clothes

Babies obviously need clothes, but they don’t need as many as you might think. Don’t feel pressured to dress them up every day or have them in something new, but it is nice to have a few special pieces that you’ve picked. We love the brand Little Green Sheep who make the sweetest organic baby clothes.

Subscription boxes / food packages

Any new parent will tell you these are soooo helpful post-baby. These truly peak on our new baby must-haves list. A delivery of some fancy ready meals is just what the midwife ordered! Treat and snack boxes are mega helpful for a little treat (and energy boost!), like our fave Hetty’s Kitchen brownie boxes that conveniently fit right through your letterbox!

Finally, our Antenatal and Hypnobirthing Online Course!
