Babies need stuff – that much we know – but with so many lists out there it can get really overwhelming. What do I really need before welcoming my baby into the world? We all know about the vests, the nappies, the sleeping equipment, but what about the “nice to have” extras? What truly are the new baby must-haves I need?

We have written this handy guide of some of parent-to-be new baby must-haves showcasing our favourite things that make life that little bit easier when getting to know your new baby.

Black and White Sensory Play Toys

Such as these high contrast art cards. Black and white high contrast imagery is easier for young baby’s to interpret , therefore supporting both visual and cognitive development. They are great to be placed on the floor and support baby’s tummy time, giving them something interesting to focus on.

Special Baby Clothes

Babies obviously need clothes, but they don’t need as many as you might think. Don’t feel pressured to dress them up every day or have them in something new, but it is nice to have a few special pieces that you’ve picked. We love the brand Little Green Sheep who make the sweetest organic baby clothes.

Subscription boxes / food packages

Any new parent will tell you these are soooo helpful post-baby. These truly peak on our new baby must-haves list. A delivery of some fancy ready meals is just what the midwife ordered! Treat and snack boxes are mega helpful for a little treat (and energy boost!), like our fave Hetty’s Kitchen brownie boxes that conveniently fit right through your letterbox!
