What Hypnobirthing Should I Do? 5 Ways To Decide…
What Hypnobirthing should I do?
There are many different brands of hypnobirthing now to include KG Hypnobirthing, Marie Mongan Method, The Wise Hippo Birthing Programme, The Positive Birth Company and obviously us over here at The Bump to Baby Chapter. There is also lots of choice now with which format you choose, from in person classes, online hypnobirthing courses and also hypnobirthing books. There’s a couple of things to consider about which company you choose.
1. Social Media Channels
Take a look at their social media channels, this will give you a good feel over what their ethos and values are as a company. It may be you want a company that promotes natural birth, or who is more balanced in their approach. You may want it less airy fairy and more educational. There isn’t a standardised approach to hypnobirthing, the views of what’s important to the teacher will definitely come through in the material you get, so it’s super important that you like their style and approach.
2. Qualifications
Who is giving you the information? What are their qualifications? Is that important to you? You don’t need to be a midwife to be a hypnobirthing teacher. More often than not, hypnobirthing teachers aren’t midwives. Hypnobirthing is a course that you train in in just under a week. But, having a midwife doing your hypnobirthing may be more reassuring and realistic for you. You may also get more tips about birth from someone who has cared for hundreds or thousands of women, either as a midwife or a doula.
3. What do you get for your buck
Do you want the opportunity to ask lots of questions and have a more tailored course? If so, then a one to one service may be beneficial for you. If you just want the information and to crack on yourself then a book or online course that you can self pace may be the one for you.
4. Support
What support do you get after your hypnobirthing? You may be able to ask questions via email, or join a FB group or even a what’s app group with other women who are due the same time as you. It may be that you want the opportunity to ask questions to your teacher as you go through your pregnancy, either by text or email.
5. Reviews
Check out the reviews and recommendations of each company you are choosing. Have a look at Trust Pilot to read impartial reviews. Ask your friends what they chose and why.
